Our Story

Dear Guest,

Welcome to Painting for the Cure!

My name is Mylene Ausdauer and I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer (Lobular Carcinoma) on July 27,2017 which has spread to my bones including my spine, ribs, shoulders, pelvis and sternum. News of the diagnosis changed my life. Dealing with cancer is hard in and itself. Raising our little girl on one income, side effects of the medication, and having no family in the area add to the challenge.

My treatment started with anti-estrogen drugs to halt the cancer’s growth. On Monday, November 6th, 2017 treatment was transitioned to daily pills of Ibrance & Famara chemotherapy. The treatment leaves me physically exhausted on a daily basis. I wake up with low energy and a very energetic toddler running around. My husband works full time, limiting his availability to help with chores and our daughter to evenings and weekends.

I have a CT scan every three to six months to monitor the status of my cancer. As we go through my treatment medical bills continue to arrive and the co-pays add up. Managing all the new expenses has made an already thin budget increasingly tight. Every day we do our best to keep our spirits up and our faith strong. The new calendar year brought with it a renewed annual insurance deductible to cover in order to continue receiving treatment. We humbly ask for any help you can provide. May God bless you all!

Thank you & God Bless,

The Ausdauer Family
